Guest of Honour

David Krentz

We are thrilled to reveal our Guest of Honour - David Krentz!

David Krentz is a two-time Emmy Award-winning artist whose work spans both animation and live-action productions in film and television. His work encompasses a diverse set of roles, including character designer, animator, storyboard artist, writer, director, and consulting palaeoartist.

He has worked with major studios, including Walt Disney Animation Studios, Marvel Studios, Sony Entertainment, and Cartoon Network.

His first dinosaur film was the 2000 Disney film Dinosaur. Following this, David continued to work on high-profile animated films for Disney such as Fantasia 2000, Treasure Planet, and John Carter, and also lent his talents to studios like Marvel and Sony.

David also contributed to the 2013 film Walking with Dinosaurs, the cinematic reboot of the original BBC miniseries. In that production, he collaborated with multiple palaeontologists to capture anatomical accuracy for species from Alaskan and Canadian sites.

In a more fantastical (and violent!) production, David collaborated with Adult Swim to produce the animated series Primal, working as a storyboard artist and writer. His contributions to the episode “Plague of Madness” earned him two Emmy Awards, including one for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation and another as part of the award for Outstanding Animated Program for that episode.

More recently, David played a primary role in the production of the fantastic and award-winning documentary series Prehistoric Planet, narrated by Sir David Attenborough. David’s lifelong commitment to scientific integrity, combined with his exceptional creative flare, has made him a pillar of the palaeontological community and a key advocate for science communication.
